The Rhode Island Artificial Intelligence Task Force will be holding its first meeting on July 15th, 2024. The task force was established through an executive order signed by Governor Dan McKee. The 24-member task force will be led by former Congressman Jim Langevin and will advise state policymakers on the risks and opportunities of AI.

“Embracing AI and finding safe methods and practices for it in our government and economy is crucial for our state’s future,” said Governor Dan McKee. “With this task force and other efforts underway, Rhode Island is poised to better the lives of Rhode Islanders and help chart a new course for the innovation technology landscape.”

The task force is made up of individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and industries, including manufacturing, finance, healthcare, small business, education, and government. The full list of task force members is as follows:

The first meeting of the task force will be held at 3:00 p.m. at the Department of Administration.

The Rhode Island Artificial Intelligence Task Force is committed to making Rhode Island a leader in the AI-driven future while also minimizing the risks associated with this emerging technology. The task force will work closely with policymakers, businesses, and individuals to develop a comprehensive plan to support the growth of AI in a way that is beneficial to the state.
