The Frick Collection in New York City is a renowned museum undergoing its first major renewal in 90 years.
On Thursday at 6 p.m. at Rosecliff, The Frick director, Ian Wardropper, will discuss the details of this significant story in the David W. Dangremond Lecture, “The Frick Renewed.”
One of the pre-eminent museum directors in America, Wardropper will explain how improved infrastructure and accessibility, along with new spaces for exhibitions, conservation and education, will allow The Frick to better serve 21st century audiences. He will also outline the fascinating details of the refurbishment of the original 1914 Carrère and Hastings house and the 1935 John Russell Pope addition.

On Tuesday, July 30, Curatorial Fellow Ben Bowery will present the Jacalyn and William P. Egan Lecture, “Decoding Gilded Age Designer Jules Allard,” at Rosecliff at 6 p.m.
The Preservation Society of Newport County holds the largest collection of works by the Parisian-born designer, whose businesses in Paris and New York catered to a clientele of wealthy, socially ambitious Americans. Although Allard’s work came to define the aesthetic of the Gilded Age in Newport and New York, it has remained relatively unstudied. Bowery will explore Allard’s life and work, discuss some of his findings and illuminate the working process of this fascinating designer.
