La Méchante Et Le Connard

La Méchante et le Connard are a franco-american duo of ukulele, double bass and voice… did you say ukulele? Yes, ukulele. Unique arrangements and fresh takes on jazz age standards, French classics and modern hits.

Casey grew up in Middletown and moved to Paris to study classical saxophone at the conservatory. About 2 seconds after finishing her degree, she realized there was not a dime to be made playing Rachmaninov on a saxophone, no matter how cool that made her. Luckily, she had a good ear and strong pipes, so singing came as a natural next step.

Cyril came from a musical family, growing up listening to Baroque music until he discovered the holy grail of rock. There was no looking back. He dove into music, twisting and turning and absorbing everything and every genre he could get his ears on. Casey and Cyril met in the Paris suburbs, teaching at the same music school.

The duo took to the streets, the first weeks playing the 7 songs they knew until they had enough change for a semi-decent bottle of wine. They upgraded to cafés and before they knew it, they were playing the Cannes Film Festival (and drinking decidedly better wine!)
They have found their niche in high energy and unique arrangements for their little formation, focusing on creativity and minimalism, highlighting their individual fortes. For those who are not francophone, please do google the name, but don’t worry… on est gentils!

They will be joined by two fabulous musicians at King Park: Providence based David Cuellar on percussion and saxophonist known by those who know, John McKenna. This concert is shaping up to be something extra special!

The show is free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs for seating.
