The Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI) will be offering a new training course for aspiring table game dealers in August.
The six-week program, run in partnership with Bally’s, will teach participants the skills necessary to handle blackjack and other novelty games, as well as provide customer service, conflict resolution, and gaming etiquette.
Students will also learn how to prepare for live auditions and licensing in the gaming industry. The course will be held at CCRI’s Lincoln Campus and will feature a state-of-the-art table games simulated classroom setting.
“CCRI’s ability to partner with local employers to develop and deliver in-demand training is a testament to our dedication to addressing workforce needs,” said Rosemary A. Costigan, Ph.D., RN, Interim President of CCRI. “
The new program is part of CCRI’s efforts to diversify its workforce and meet the local economy’s growing gaming industry demands. The college has already made a $5 million donation from Bally’s Corporation to support its development of new programs in the gaming, hospitality, and security industries.
“This is yet another prime example of the college assessing a skills gap in a specific industry, partnering to co-design customized curriculum, and delivering world-class workforce training for our employer partners,” said CCRI’s Vice President of Workforce Partnerships Jennie Johnson.
The Introduction to Table Games Dealer Training course is now open to aspiring table game dealers. Interested students can apply online by filling out an online program inquiry form.
