Ninety-eight graduate from St. George’s School in Middletown (Justin Walker/What'sUpNewp)

St. George’s School celebrated its 98 graduating seniors at its annual Prize Day ceremony, recognizing the Class of 2026 for achievement in academics, the arts, athletics and character, with several Rhode Island students among the top honorees.

Julienne Patterson received the St. George’s Medal, awarded to the member of the sixth form who, in the opinion of the faculty, has best caught and expressed the ideals and spirit of St. George’s through effort, character, athletics and scholarship. Patterson also won the Louise Elliot Cup for excellence in athletics.

Several other awards went to Rhode Island students.

Reese Gabrielle Starling of Middletown won the Jefferys Prize, awarded in memory of Cham Jefferys to the sixth-former who in the opinion of the faculty has done the most to enhance the moral and intellectual climate of the school. She also won the Howe Prize for excellence in graphic arts.

Juno Conwell of Portsmouth was a co-winner of the Centennial Prize, established in the school’s centennial year and awarded to two students of the graduating class who have made extraordinary and inspirational contributions to the school. She also won the Choir Prize, awarded to the student who during the year has best contributed to the work of the choir. Tiffanie Grace Maignan was the other Centennial Prize co-winner.

Luke Austin Madom of Wakefield won the Class of 1978 Music Prize, awarded to the student who through personal effort has inspired the musical life of the school.

Graham Michael Arner of Newport won the Thayer Cup, awarded to a boy of the sixth form whose steady devotion to the high ideals of good sportsmanship has been an inspiration to his fellow students.

In addition to the graduates, Gabriel Andrew McFadden of Middletown, Class of 2027, won the Conrad Young Prize, awarded to a member of the fifth form who has contributed significantly to the school’s efforts to become a more diverse, respectful community through scholarship, leadership and character.

Among other top honors, Keira Lin Dussault received the Binney Prize for highest scholarship in the sixth form, Zoe Chen won the Phelps Montgomery Frissell Prize for making the best use of her talents, and Virginia Lindsey Boone received the Head of School’s Award in recognition of her devotion to the school and its mission.

During the Prize Day Chapel Service preceding the awarding of prizes and diplomas, trustee Dana Creel, St. George’s Class of 1994, delivered the commencement address. Creel, of New York, is the mother of St. George’s graduate Spencer Conroy Smith.
