Rhode Island Life Science Hub

To bolster Rhode Island’s life sciences industry, the state is launching a $250,000 grant program to support academic and commercial research in the sector.

The Rhode Island Life Science Hub announced the creation of the Small Grant Fund today, which will award grants of up to $10,000 to projects, initiatives, events, programs, and equipment that will support the growth of life science fields in the state. The funding is expected to support projects in the areas of biopharmaceuticals, medical devices, biomedical technology, and cell and gene therapies, among others.

The program is supported by $45 million in initial investments from the state, which hopes to position Rhode Island as a globally recognized leader in life science innovation. The hope is that by supporting existing stakeholders, activities, and investments, the state can build new capabilities to attract companies and academic institutions to the area, enhancing the entire life science sector.

The Small Grant Fund is now open for applications, which will be accepted on a rolling basis until all funds run out. To learn more or to submit an application, visit the Rhode Island Life Science Hub website.
