Newport In Bloom has announced the winners of its Daffodil Days storefront window display contest.

The public voted in April to choose their favorite daffiest window, and the results were released on May 1. A total of nearly 2,000 votes were cast.

The People’s Choice winner was a virtual tie between two stores: X&O Boutique, located at 190 Bellevue Ave., Newport, and Gill Marine Newport, located at 364 Thames St., Newport.

“There were so many creative and imaginative displays that brightened up Newport’s shopping districts with their bright yellow themed windows. Our retailers demonstrated their community spirit and how daffy they can really get,” said Joan Jacobs, Chair of Newport in Bloom. “It’s a delight to see the city come alive each, not only with over a million daffodils but also with enchanting store fronts throughout Newport.”

Newport in Bloom will host a free daffodil bulb giveaway in October and has plans once again to provide decorative flower baskets along Newport’s historic streets. Donations are welcome to support both efforts.
