Nashville-based singer/songwriter/guitarist Jax Hollow rocked her way through a nice set of original songs (and one notable cover) on Saturday, March 16, at the Jamestown Arts Center in a Newport Live concert. She played several from her debut album Only the Wild Ones, as well as several new songs she plans to record in the near future.
The Montague, MA native, just a few years out of the Berklee School of Music, showed off her guitar chops, utilizing looping technology to support her solo guitar work. She even offered an impromptu lesson on multi-instrumental live looping behind an inspired cover of Marshall Tucker Band’s “Can’t You See.”
Opener Steve Allain warmed up the crowd with a fine set of originals. Be sure to catch him live playing regularly at various venues around the region. Up next for Newport Live, the Chris Spedding Trio with Anton Fig on Friday, March 22 at 8PM at Newport’s Colony House. Click here for tickets.
