The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County’s next networking event, Arts Around the Fire, will be held on Wednesday, March 20, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Stoneacre Brasserie, 28 Washington Square, in Newport. This free event is open to the public and no reservations are required. The Alliance’s guest will be Christine Cocca, the new Executive Director of the Jamestown Arts Center.
Cocca’s career in the arts spans more than two decades. She has served as Director of Black Goat Studios, an organization she co-founded with artist Entang Wiharso, and as Executive Director of Antena Projects and Director of Yogyakarta Open Studios. She was appointed by the Indonesian government in 2001 to revive the historically significant Yogyakarta Biennial.
Arts Around the Fire is an opportunity for artists, writers, performers, and audiences to engage with colleagues about events affecting the cultural community, and to learn about new ideas and artistic endeavors. The event features a cash bar, light refreshments, and an informal atmosphere where artists and art lovers can connect. Interested parties are invited to sign up for an artist membership or become a supporting member of the Alliance, a coalition of individuals and non-profits committed to the advancement of arts and culture in Newport County.
