On Saturday, July 21st at 5 pm, Ireland returns to Newport Polo for its 27th campaign against the USA at the polo grounds at Glen Farm.
The 6-chukker exhibition polo match will mount Ireland, looking to continue their win streak against the USA, for a duration of approximately 2 hours. The match will conclude with a Veuve Clicquot Champagne trophy presentation, autograph signing and après polo Asado Lamb Roast dinner celebration (sold separately, by advanced reservation).
Competing for Ireland will be Colm Kelleher, Siobhan Herbst, Paul Ronan and Mark Stone.”Polo is an international sport, played in over 80 countries around the globe, and we are honored to have teams traveling great distances to play in Newport,” stated Dan Keating, captain of the USA squad. The Irish team has developed a large following of supporters over nearly 3 decades.
The team will be highly visible on tour of the City by the Sea in their 2018 BMW X5, when they visit the Newport Mansions, witness the Dell Tennis championships at the International Tennis Hall of Fame, take in scenic Ocean Drive in scoot coups from Scooter World, sail with America’s Cup Charters, take to the skies with Newport Helicopter Tours and surf the tide with Island Surf & Sport.
During the match, the weekly door prize will award a magnum of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, and the Stella Artois Best Tailgate will be rewarded. Specialty vendors and concessionaires will be present in the Hospitality village at the polo grounds, including the Twisted Pony Bar, Newport Polo Pro Shop, Horseshoe Wine Bar, the BMW Experience, the Brahmin pop up shop and other specialty vendors and gourmet food trucks.
