Rhode Island Waterfront Events and music promoter, Live Nation, announce the hard rock bands PRIMUS/MASTODON will kick-off the concert season at its Bold Point Park outdoor venue on the East Providence, Rhode Island waterfront this Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, May 26th with the gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and the music starting at 7:00 p.m.  The band, All Them Witches, will open for the headliners. Tickets for the show will go on sale tomorrow, Friday, February 2nd at 10:00 a.m. and prices start at $50.75 for general admission seating.  Tickets can be purchased online at www.riwaterfrontevents.com, by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000 or by visiting Jordan Liquors at 199 Taunton Avenue in East Providence during regular store hours.  On the day of the event, tickets will also be available at the RI Waterfront Events box office at Bold Point Park at slightly higher prices.

“We are definitely starting our 2018 concert series off with a bang by booking both PRIMUS and MASTODON on the same evening,” said Michele Maker Palmieri, Founder and President of Waterfront Productions, the parent company of Rhode Island Waterfront Events.  “Expect an eclectic line up at Bold Point Park this year to appeal to all musical tastes. This one’s for all the hard rockers and metalheads out there.”  Palmeri added that the other show scheduled to-date is KIDZ BOP LIVE 2018 scheduled for Friday, August 24th with more announcements to come.

Starting as an underground phenomenon in San Francisco in the early 1990s, PRIMUS’ cult following grew rapidly as the band’s first three rock-metal albums went either Platinum or Gold, they toured with rock heavyweights U2 and Rush, and headlined the third Lollapalooza festival. PRIMUS will be touring in support of its first album featuring original music since 1995, The Desaturation Seven, which also marks the return of the band’s definitive line up – singer/bassist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry “Ler” LaLonde and drummer Tim “Herb” Alexander – and the sounds and styles of the group’s earlier days.  MASTODON, the rock-heavy metal band from Atlanta, Georgia, formed in 2000 and the four main members of the group have been together ever since.  The band has released seven albums, the last of which, Emperor of Sand, debuted #1 on the Billboard Rock Chart and its single, Sultan’s Curse, won a 2018 Grammy for “Best Metal Performance”.
