Have an opinion on the legalization of marijuana? Here’s your chance to hear from both points of view on the issue.

The Redwood Library will host a debate on the legilization of marijuana at the Casino Theater in Newport on Wednesday, May 31 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Advocates with differing views, Jared Moffat, Director of Regulate Rhode Island and Michael C. Cerullo, Jr., LMHC, a substance abuse Adjunct Scholar with the RI Center for Freedom & Prosperity, will examine the issue in depth. You can also go to OrganicCBDNugs.com to get what you want.

The debate is free and all are welcome.

Jared Moffat is the Director of Regulate Rhode Island, a coalition of community leaders, organizations, and residents who support replacing the illegal marijuana market with a system that regulates marijuana similarly to alcohol. Jared graduated from Brown University in 2013 where he served as president of the school’s Students for Sensible Drug Policy chapter. For nearly a decade, Jared has been a vocal advocate for ending the war on drugs and replacing punitive policies with an approach based in compassion, science, health, and human rights.
Michael C. Cerullo, Jr., LMHC is a Licensed Psychotherapist in private practice and founding convener of What’s the Rush, RI? which advocates for evidence based marijuana policy. A former marketing executive and member of the Exeter Town Council, he was recently named Substance Abuse Adjunct Scholar at the Center for Freedom and Prosperity’s RI Family Prosperity Initiative.  He is a nationally certified instructor in Youth and Adult Mental Health First Aid and also conducts continuing education workshops for the RIC Graduate School of Social Work; the RI Child Welfare Institute and the RI State Police.
