On Saturday, June 3rd at 5 pm, Peru will make its debut as the 33rd nation to compete against USA, on Opening Day of theNBC10 Newport International Polo Series XXVI, Presented by BMW.
The 6-chukker exhibition polo match will feature USA vs. Peru for a duration of approximately 2 hours. The match will commence with the raising of the Peruvian flag and national anthems and will conclude with an après polo culinary celebration with dance performances and world renown cuisine (by reservation: Après Polo – Machu Pulu).
The action kicks off Opening Day with the debut of Peru on Sat., June 3rd at 5pm and runs continuously every Saturday through September, with fierce rivals including Peru, France, Italy, Ireland, Mexico (guests of honor for Gala la Bamba), Jamaica, England and the return of the Dominican Republic. Rivals from major US cities include Boston, Pittsburgh, Palm Beach, Philly, New York and Baltimore.
Après Polo & Special Events range from the Season Kickoff Party at Clarke Cooke House, Team Meet & Greet events to festive après polo celebrations after each international match.
Competing for Peru will be Iago Masias, Santiago de Osma, Adrian Poblete and Jose Aramburú. from the Lima Polo Club, founded in 1898. “It is an honor to host teams that travel such vast distances to accept our invitation,” explained Dan Keating, USA team captain and founder of the Polo Series.

During the match, a weekly door prize drawing will award a magnum of Veuve Clicquot Champagne, and the Best Tailgate prize from Stella Artois will be awarded. After 6 periods, called chukkers, the match will conclude with the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Toast & Trophy Presentation, as well as an autograph signing and cocktail hour to mingle with the players and a special Après Polo event, Machu Pulu. Specialty vendors and concessionaires will be present in the Hospitality village at the polo grounds, including the Twisted Pony Bar, Newport Polo Pro Shop, and other specialty vendors and gourmet food trucks.
