The Rotary Club of Newport announced on Wednesday that they will be offering three scholarships to Rogers High School students graduating this June.

 
There are two Herbert Epstein / Anthony Spiratos Memorial Scholarships. One scholarship is for $4,000 for one year, and one is for $2,000 for one year. These are awarded to two graduating seniors who are entering an accredited two year or four year program leading to an academic degree in the arts, sciences, engineering or a specific occupation.  The recipient must:  show financial need; demonstrate academic success; and exhibit productive use of time outside the classroom in both school and community.

 
The John Drake Rotary Trust Service Scholarship is $1,000 a year for up to four years.  It is awarded to a graduating senior who is entering an accredited two or four year program leading to a degree in the arts, sciences, engineering, or a specific occupation.  The recipient must:  exhibit productive use of time outside the classroom (especially in school and community service); and demonstrate academic achievement. Need is not a criterion.

 
Applications are available in the Guidance Office at Rogers High School; on line at www.newportrotary.org or requested via email to: rhsscholarships@newportrotary.org. Applications may be submitted via mail to PO Box 164, Newport, RI 02840 or by email to: rhsscholarships@newportrotary.org. Please request a reply so you will know that the application has been received. Emailed applications & recommendations must be emailed by 8:00 pm, Sunday 4/30/17. Paper applications must be postmarked by Saturday. April 29, 2017.

 
An interview by the committee is required. Interviews will be scheduled for Saturday morning May 6th.
