Harry’s Bar & Burger, a Chow Fun Food Group restaurant, is coming soon to downtown Newport.

An application has been filed at Newport City Hall by Tallulah, LLC to transfer its Class BL alcoholic beverage license to Harry’s Newport Burger Bar, LLC for use at the same premise, 464 Thames Street. Harry’s Newport Burger LLC is made up of John Elkhay (49% ownership), Ted Newcomer (15.5%), Harrison Elkhay (15.5%) and Richard Bready (20%).

John Elkhay has been considered by some as one of the industry’s top chefs and restaurateurs, receiving local, regional and national accolades since he first started working in the Rhode Island food scene in the 1980’s..  Now, John is the Maestro of Chow Fun Food Group, which owns and operates 10 Prime Steak & Sushi, Rick’s Roadhouse, Luxe Burger Bar, XO Café, and Harry’s Bar & Burger, as well as Veritas Catering.

Newport will be the fourth location for a Harry’s Bar & Burger in the state of Rhode Island, Harry’s can be found now at 121 North Main St. and 301 Atwells Ave in Providence. They also have plans to open soon on Front Street in Lincoln. In Providence, they are typically open from 11:30 am – 1 am on weekdays and 11:30 am to 2 am on the weekends (Providence City Ordinance allows bars to stay open until 1 am on weeknights and 2 am on weekends).

“Harry’s Bar & Burger offers real good food at real good prices. Serving 100% pure Hereford beef sliders, Nathan’s world famous beef hot dogs, hard shakes, new twists on classic cocktails, and ever-evolving list of craft beers, Harry’s is the perfect destination for a quick lunch, night out, or a late-night bite.” Harry’s Burger Bar website states.

Back on December 9th, Kelly Ann Rojas provided the following statement to What’sUpNewp regarding the future of Tallulah On Thames in Newport;

Tallulah on Thames is closed for the season. We closed after Labor Day weekend. We still occupy the space for the next three years so we will be opening in the spring with either the same concept of Tallulah on Thames or a different one. This is yet to be determined and once we know, we will send out a press release with details. If anything changes regarding opening in the spring with a concept, we will send out another press release. The taco carts & Shack in Jamestown only run May thru October so they are both closed for the season as well.
