Daniel Arthur Cagney Kilroy passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 20, 2017. Born in Providence on June 28, 1983 he was 33 years old. He leaves behind his parents, Larry and Johanna Kilroy of Newport, his brothers, Joshua Kilroy of Chicago, Noah Kilroy of Fall River, his sisters, Samantha Brinz and husband John Brinz of North Kingstown and Annielaurie Kilroy and her fiancé David Lemire of East Providence. Danny had a special place in his heart for his son, Danny Jr. He was the loving uncle of Aidan, Medinat, Tatiana, Tristen, Isaiah and Melani. He also leaves behind many beloved Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. A special remembrance to Caitlin Brousseau, a loving friend to Danny.

Danny was born with a big smile and mischief in his eyes. Our Dann boy was a charmer and a dreamer. His irreverent, charismatic personality made him many friends but it often took patience to remain a friend to him. Many were lifelong and loyal and were there for him through his sometimes thorny path, and for this he was grateful. His family loved him dearly and will miss him.

An excellent athlete in his youth, he played on the Fifth Ward Little League and Pop Warner Football. He was especially proud of playing on the Rogers Football team while he was a student at ALP. Danny attended Carey Elementary School, All Saints Academy, Thompson Middle School and Camp E. Huntee where he received excellent, tireless support. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church where he was happy to serve as a proud if not entirely angelic Alter boy.

Danny at his best was bright, funny and caring. He was a stylish dresser often topping off his outfit with a flamboyant hat and his favorite sneakers. He was a creative writer and could tell a good story. He would often help both strangers and friends in any way he could. He knew when people needed cheering up and always had a smile. Through the years, he worked for his Dad at Frasch Confectionary putting his special touch on a cake or two.

Danny’s short life had many shades of light and dark. He will be remembered for his persistence against the odds. After he lost the use of his legs he always had hope he would walk if not run again. His dream did not come true but when you remember Danny please imagine him running free forever in his special pair of sneakers.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 8, 2017, 11:00 am, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 2679 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
