UPDATE from Newport Police Department at 10:20 am

At 0530 hours this morning an anonymous call was made to the Newport Police Department, in which a threat was made against the Newport Public schools. The Newport Police Department immediately began investigating this matter.

The schools and the grounds were searched and there was no evidence of foul play discovered. The Newport Police Department immediately notified the School Department.
