2 – Family Movie Night at Kay Chapel – Screening of “Inside Out”

Hotel Viking has opened up Kay Chapel to the public on Friday nights for family movie night! Join them for a free family friendly movie every Friday and make it a family night out in Newport.  The movie is free and we’ll be offering dinner specials at One Bellevue before the movie. Movies start at 7PM at Kay Chapel (corner of Church and High Streets).

3 – Live Improv Comedy with The Bit Players

Friday at 8pm and Saturday at 8pm & 10pm at The Firehouse Theater

4 – The Wasted Talent Show

3 years running, this is Newport’s hottest monthly stand up comedy show at Hope Underground featuring comedians from Comedy Central, Conan, MTV, VH1, and the best local new talent in New England! 5 – Special Open House at Carey School Residences

Friday from 6pm – 9pm at Carey School 

LIBBY KIRWIN REAL ESTATE will be hosting a special open house for agents, brokers, investors, buyers and any other curious parties, an evening of interior design, fine art and architecture.

6 – Grand Opening Of Shunya Studio

Saturday from 4pm – 9pm at Shunya Studio in Portsmouth

Shunya Studio will open its doors at Clock Tower Square to the yoga community at their grand opening on Saturday, January 30th. The blessing of the new space is free, open to the public and will include Vinyasa with Patti D, Gong with Kyla and live music from 4pm to 6pm and hors d’oeuvres, wine and music from 6pm to 9pm.

7 – The Newport String Project Presents “Dvorak in America”

Sunday at 3pm at Ochre Court at Salve Regina University

The Newport String Project will bring a program of works for strings by Czech master Antonin Dvorak to the beautiful surrounds of Ochre Court at Salve Regina University. Violinists and Newport String Project directors EmmaLee and Ealain will be joined by guest musicians Sarah Hill, viola and Chelsea Bernstein cello.

ADMISSION: By donation – all donations directly support the performance and educational programming of the Newport String Project. Suggested Donation $10, $25, $50+

Ryan Belmore is the Owner and Publisher of What'sUpNewp. Although not the founder or original owner, Belmore has been with What'sUpNewp since its early beginnings in 2012.

Belmore was born in Providence, Rhode Island; grew up and graduated high school in Coventry, Rhode Island; and lived in Newport, Rhode Island for more than ten years. He currently serves as Vice President of the Board Of Directors for Fort Adams Trust and on the Board of Directors for Potter League For Animals.

He and his wife, Jen, as well as their two dogs (Aero and June), recently moved to Alexandria, Virginia. Belmore travels back and forth to Newport every couple of weeks to cover events, work on story ideas, to meet with What'sUpNewp's on-the-ground contributors, to visit friends, and to eat as much seafood as possible.

Belmore is a member of Local Independent Online News Publishers, Society of Professional Journalists, and the North American Snowsports Journalists Association.
