From a pig roast to Newport Seafood Festival, here are the top events that you shouldn’t miss in and around Newport this October!
1 – Goose Island Beer Dinner at Midtown Oyster Bar, October 7th
Midtown Oyster Bar will host their 3rd Annual Pig Roast and Beer Dinner on Wednesday, October 7th at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $70 per person and reservations can be made by calling Midtown at 401-619-4100.

2 – Rogue Island Comedy Festival, October 8 – 11
Rhode Island’s first ever stand-up comedy festival! Local comedian Doug Key is bringing the best nationally known comedians to historic Newport! More Info
3 – Laser Tag at Fort Adams
Fort Adams will be holding laser tag battles in the inner ditch area of the fort. Participants can wage their own battles against their opponents.
The laser tag games start October 10, 2015 and will be played on October 10th – 12th, 15th – 16th & 24th – 25th on the hour from 10 AM to 4 PM. Each game will cost $8 per participant. Unique Halloween themed games will also be played in the evenings during Fortress of Nightmares October 16th – 18th and October 23rd – 25th between the hours of 6 – 10 PM. The laser tag games will end October 25th resuming again in the spring.
4 – Columbus Day Parade on October 12th
The Columbus Day Parade steps off at Noon on Monday, October 12th. The Grand Marshal will lead the parade to the Columbus Monument at Memorial Boulevard and Bellevue Avenue followed by luncheon at Sardella’s Restaurant ($12.50/$5)
5 – Fortress Of Nightmares

Head to Historic Fort Adams and experience all this National Historic Landmark has to offer, after-dark. 6 – 25th Annual Bowen’s Wharf Seafood Festival on October 17th and 18th

Bowen’s Wharf will host their 25th annual Seafood Festival on October 17th in 18th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Fresh local seafood, cold New England beer, signature cocktails accompany continuous live music, and family fun, all beneath the Wharf’s colorful tents. Cafe-style seating is set up throughout the Wharf. Kid’s activities and the opportunity to get aboard SSV Oliver Hazard Perry, RI’s official sailing education vessel! 7 – Ballard Park Movie Night on October 17th
This year’s event will feature two movies (one for kids, and one more thrilling option for adults), plus a Halloween costume parade and contest, free daffodils given away by Newport Daffodillion and a meet and greet with members of the Newport Fire Department. 5pm: The Quarry Meadow opens for a meet and greet with the Newport Fire Department. 5:30pm: Costume parade for children. 6pm: Children’s movie begins. 7:30pm: Adult movie begins. 8 – Pell Bridge Run on October 25th
Check this beauty off your bucket list. Run or walk the iconic Pell Bridge at sunrise in a 4.1 mile event sponsored by Citizens Bank and the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority. All proceeds from this event are donated to local charities. 7:15am. Race starts in Jamestown and ends in Downtown Newport.
