TIVERTON, R.I. — Emma Chase scored off a corner with 3:04 left in the second quarter, and that was enough for the Tiverton/Bay View co-op in a 1-0 field hockey win over Smithfield on Thursday at Tiverton High School.

Ava Macfarlane took the corner and was credited with the assist.

The Tigers controlled possession for most of the night, generating nine penalty corners and seven shots on goal while holding Smithfield to a single shot. Cordelia Awad kept the shutout in net.

Tiverton kept the ball in Smithfield’s end through the second half to protect the lead.
