Jamestown Arts Center’s Artists’ Open Studios returns this weekend, offering visitors a free, self-guided tour of more than 30 artist studios and galleries across Conanicut Island on Saturday, August 8 and Sunday, August 9, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Expanded to two days this year, the event invites visitors to follow ART HERE signs across the island and step inside working studios to see artists’ latest work, works in progress, and the spaces where their creative practices take shape.
“Visiting an artist’s studio offers a perspective that simply cannot be replicated in a traditional gallery setting,” said Christine Cocca, Executive Director of Jamestown Arts Center. “Each studio reflects the distinct personality, working methods, and creative imagination of the artist.”
This year’s participating artists include Hilary Archer, Jillian Barber, Shirley Bell, Ellen Bulger, David and Jennifer Clancy, Diane Damle, Peter Diepenbrock, Dave Drown, Peter Elsworth, Peter Flood, Katherine Fu, Fuller Gallery, Diane Harrison, Lyric Marie Johnson, Jane Kameski, Deb Lichtenstein, Kat Levioe, Sue Mailloux, Rick Meli, Petra Napolitano, Becky Olien, Sarah Oesting, Out of the Box Studio & Gallery, Tory Reiff, Julie Sanford, Sandy Sorlien, Didi Suydam, Christopher T. Terry, Alexi Sarah Widoff, and Ernie Wulff.
Printed tour maps will be available for pickup at Jamestown Arts Center, 18 Valley Street, beginning Thursday, August 6. A digital map with turn-by-turn directions is also available for smartphones.
The event is free and open to all.
