Doris Garside

Doris Blanche Garside, 89, of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, died on 10/31/2025. She was the wife of the late Martin F. Garside, Jr..

Born in Fall River, MA on March 20, 1936, She was the daughter of Herve Plourde and Beatrice (Daigle) Plourde/Bellavance.

Doris grew up in Fall River and worked for 28 years at the Reflek Corp, until her retirement in 2012. She and her husband Martin enjoyed having family dinners, movies, dinning out and most of all being with each other. They were married for 41 years until his death in 1991. Doris spent her later years living with her daughter Eileen and her husband Paul.

Her Favorite thing to do was go to the casino and play penny slots, go out to dinner and play cards, however her MOST favorite thing to do was spoil all her grandchildren .

In her younger years, she babysat for neighbors and family and always made enough food to feed the neighborhood.

She also enjoyed cooking, going on cruises, she went on vacation to Las Vegas, Niagara Falls, Florida which were all highlights in her life.

Doris is survived by her children, Kevin Garside (Cheryl) of Florida, Carol Clohecy (Larry) of Connecticut, Eileen Allen (Paul) of Portsmouth, Pamela Torres(Stephen) of Portsmouth, and Melissa Lavoie Sousa (Joe) of Dartmouth, MA, and her siblings, Henri Bellavance (Judith) of Florida, Kenneth Bellavance (Cathy) of Georgia, and Rosemary Levesque (Armand) of Westport, MA. Doris also leaves 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Doris is preceded in death by a son Martin F. Garside, III, and a brother Robert Bellavance.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10am-11a, following promptly at 11am a Funeral service at the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, RI.
