MIKEL Inc. has been awarded a five-year, $64 million prime contract to provide engineering support services to the Naval Undersea Warfare Center Division at Keyport, Washington.
The Middletown company is partnering with McLaughlin Research Corporation and Booz Allen Hamilton on the work, which covers six Keyport organizations including its test and evaluation, undersea weapons, in-service engineering, and unmanned and theater undersea systems departments.
The contract spans acoustics and torpedo analysis; test, training and evaluation of undersea warfare systems; ranges and communication systems; and repair of mechanical, electromechanical and electronic systems. The company says the repair work complements its commercial repair depot in Fall River, Massachusetts.
“We are eager to establish a local presence in Washington, build new partnerships within the Keyport community, and bring MIKEL’s proven undersea warfare experience to this critical mission,” said Kelly Mendell, president and CEO.
Kimberly Matthews, vice president of business development, said the award expands the company’s presence in the Pacific Northwest.
Founded in 1998, MIKEL is a woman-owned small business headquartered in Middletown that provides engineering and technical services to the Navy across undersea warfare systems, with a production facility and designated overhaul point in Massachusetts.
