The Newport City Council will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 8, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, 43 Broadway.
The meeting agenda includes several license applications, board appointments, and action items from the City Manager.
Notable items on the agenda include a request from The Vanderbilt to expand entertainment to its roof deck and Garden Terrace, as well as an application for a fireworks display at Castle Hill Inn on October 12. The council will also consider a new victualing license for Market on Broadway.
City Manager Colin Kennedy will present several action items, including updates to the city’s fund balance policy, authorization to extend the contract for the Community Electricity Program supplier and a funding commitment for the Rogers High School construction project. Kennedy will also provide an update on the ongoing utilities rate study.
The council will hold second readings on ordinances amending mooring permit classifications and fees. Appointments to the Sister City Commission and Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission are also scheduled.
The consent calendar includes approval of special events ranging from concerts at Belmont Chapel to holiday craft fairs and fundraisers at venues throughout the city.
City Council meetings are open to the public. A citizens’ forum will be held at the beginning of the meeting, limited to 15 minutes, with speakers addressing one subject for no longer than three minutes.
