The Rhode Island Turnpike & Bridge Authority has announced several lane closures for the Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge and Route 138 Connector during the week of Feb. 2-8.

Motorists traveling on the Newport Pell Bridge will encounter lane closures in both directions on separate days.

An eastbound right lane closure is scheduled for Feb. 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The following day, Feb. 5, will see a westbound right lane closure from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Additional work is planned at the former toll plaza area of the Newport Pell Bridge. Westbound alternating lane closures will be in effect from Feb. 3 to Feb. 7, running daily from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. During the same period, an eastbound left lane closure is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Route 138 Connector will also experience traffic disruptions. A westbound right lane closure is set for Feb. 3 and Feb. 6, operating from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both days.

These closures are part of ongoing maintenance and improvement efforts for the region’s vital transportation infrastructure.

Drivers are advised to plan for potential delays and consider alternative routes if possible during the affected times.

The Jamestown Verrazzano Bridge, Mount Hope Bridge, and Sakonnet River Bridge are not scheduled for any lane closures during this period, according to the authority’s weekly update.
