The National Weather Service in Boston/Norton is warning about dangerous travel conditions Wednesday morning across parts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

A mix of light snow and freezing drizzle has left patches of ice and snow on roads and sidewalks throughout the region.

“Take it slow this morning and watch out for slick spots,” the weather service advises in its 5:09 a.m. update.

The advisory covers much of southern New England, including central and eastern Massachusetts and most of Rhode Island. Boston, Providence, Fall River, and Newport are among the major cities affected.

On top of the slippery conditions, there’s also a wind advisory in effect for the area. The weather service hasn’t provided specifics on the wind advisory yet.

Weather officials are keeping a close eye on the situation and may send out more updates as conditions change throughout the day.

If you’re in the affected area, stay tuned to local weather reports and follow any safety guidelines from local authorities about travel and precautions.
