The Heritage Hotel Group is acquiring the historic Vanderbilt hotel, according to The Providence Journal.
The Heritage Hotel Group shares ownership with the Heritage Restaurant Group, Audrain Hospitality, and Audrain Automobile Museum.
Reporting from a press release, The Providence Journal shares that Auberge Resorts Collection will still manage the hotel, which is located at 41 Mary Street.
No details on the sale have been made public, but the deal is expected to close in early 2025.

The acquisition adds to the group’s growing and significant presence in Newport’s hospitality sector. Heritage, which shares ownership with Audrain Auto Museum and Audrain Hospitality, now boasts a portfolio of at least 20 businesses across the area.
The next largest restaurant group, employee-owned Newport Restaurant Group, operates nine restaurants in Newport County: 22 Bowen’s, Aurelia at Castle Hill, Bar ‘Cino, Boat House Restaurant, Castle Hill Inn, Foodlove Market, La Vecina Taqueria, The Mooring, and Smoke House.
Despite Heritage Restaurant Group’s growing influence, obtaining comprehensive information about its operations remains challenging. Heritage has consistently declined to share press releases or respond to inquiries from What’sUpNewp.
This lack of transparency has led to difficulties in fully understanding the extent of Heritage’s holdings, which are managed through various operating LLCs.
