The Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority (RITBA) recently transitioned to a new back-office system, causing longer-than-normal wait times for customers attempting to contact the authority by phone or in person at their customer service center. The authority announced that while tolling is operational and E-ZPass customers can access their accounts online, not all customer service functions are fully operational yet.
Lori Caron Silveira, Executive Director of RITBA, stated, “Our team is working hard to ensure that all our customer service functions are working seamlessly, and we do not want this delay to cause our customers to incur any additional fees.” She added, “Our customers have been understanding, and we sincerely appreciate their patience.”
RITBA is waiving administrative fees on bill-by-mail toll invoices for transactions occurring between October 24, 2024, and November 30, 2024, if the invoice is paid by December 1, 2024. This measure aims to alleviate any financial burden on customers facing potential delays due to the system transition.
Customers who do not need to speak to a representative are encouraged to use the updated RITBA website at www.ezpassritba.com for account maintenance.
