The Breakers, Marble House and Rosecliff are among the grandest of Newport’s famous Gilded Age mansions and appear in Julian Fellowes’ “The Gilded Age” historical drama series on HBO, which is now filming scenes in Newport for its third season.
Isaac Bell House, completed in 1883, is renowned for innovative architecture that combines international and American influences to create a unique style inside and outside. The Preservation Society recently completed a $3.3 million restoration of this National Historic Landmark.
To tour The Breakers, Marble House, and Rosecliff, visitors are encouraged to download the free Newport Mansions audio tour app, bring their earbuds, and hear the fascinating stories of people who lived and worked in these grand mansions. The Breakers and Marble House also offer children’s audio tours that stimulate young imaginations with cool sound effects and lively characters. The Isaac Bell House tour is self-guided using a printed script. Docents throughout each house can answer questions and provide detailed information about their architecture, furnishings and history.
City of Newport residents receive free admission year-round by presenting proof of residency. This offer excludes specialty tours such as Beneath The Breakers, The Breakers Third Floor Preservation in Progress, The Elms Servant Life, Sparkling Lights at The Breakers, and Inside “The Gilded Age.”
