I endorse Ellen Pinnock in the general election for Ward One City Councilor. I put considerable thought into this after having the pleasure of meeting my opponents for the first time on election day. Ellen and Hugo are both good people who would work for us to the best of their abilities and they are both well known. I was however amazed that Ellen was greeted warmly – if not hugged – by virtually everyone who came to the polls on the Point and later at the Pell school.

There are many serious issues facing the city but the land which will become available because of the bridge realignment is a critical opportunity we must not miss. In addition to her community involvement and numerous contributions, Ellen has served on the ad hoc committee and understands the critical nature of ensuring these properties are used in a way that makes our city whole, where previously it had been divided by a wall of dirt and concrete. And I wholeheartedly agree with her conclusion that “All Newporters deserve to feel joy, be included and experience wellness”.
