A Native Newporter will lead a guided tour of Island Cemetery on Saturday, August 17. Frank Amaral has spent more than 50 years connected to the cemetery and is an expert on the history, art, horticulture, and the people that rest there.

The tour begins at 10 a.m. and will include a visit inside the recently restored Belmont Chapel. Amaral says his keen knowledge of working the land gives him a unique perspective of the site.
