The Rhode Island General Treasurer’s Office announced today that the official website providing information about unclaimed property has changed from FindRIMoney.com to FindRIMoney.gov.
“The transition to a .gov domain further assures Rhode Islanders recovering unclaimed property can trust the website is official and secure,” said General Treasurer Diossa. “I would like to thank Carol Aguasvivas and the Unclaimed Property team for leading this website update effort, allowing for a smooth transition between domain names so that everyone looking to access the money that is rightfully theirs can do so comfortably.”
The Unclaimed Property Program works with businesses, banks, landlords, safe deposit boxes, and utility companies to recover unclaimed cash and assets. The program keeps the money and assets safe until they can be returned to their rightful owner. The program has returned nearly $17 million to over 19,000 Rhode Islanders in the current fiscal year. More than 300,000 Rhode Islanders still have unclaimed property waiting to be returned.
Anyone who wants to check to see if they have unclaimed property can use the online database at FindRIMoney.gov or by calling RI Unclaimed Property Division at 401-462-7676.
