A Newport resident has earned an associate degree in general studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus, according to an announcement on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Emily Anne Goss of Newport received the associate degree in general studies from the University of Maryland Global Campus in spring 2024. She was one of more than 14,000 students worldwide to receive degrees from the university in the 2023-2024 school year.

The University of Maryland Global Campus was founded in 1947 and is the largest provider of postsecondary education in the state of Maryland. The University of Maryland Global Campus offers more than 175 courses, with more than 125 degrees and certificates available. The campus also offers a hybrid program for students who want to take classes on campus or at home.
