A new essay contest is encouraging young sailors to explore the possibility of sailing and learn new skills.

The Youth Sailing Essay Contest, sponsored by Gill, Sail Newport’s official gear supplier, is open to students under 18 from across Rhode Island.

The essay contest aims to encourage young sailors and allow them to improve their skills. Also, the competition is open to youth who would like to have the chance to experience sailing as a beginner until July 12, 2024.

“Gill is a great partner to Sail Newport as they believe in community sailing and work to offer support all ages who want to enjoy the sport. We encourage all youth under 18 in Rhode Island to submit and essay,” says Brad Read, executive director of Sail Newport.
