The Rhode Island Board Of Elections finally finished counting more than 42,000 mail ballots on Thursday afternoon.
Following Tuesday night’s results, Rhode Island Board of Elections had 1,382 mail ballots to count and verify from Newport, those mail ballots resulted in no change in how the races for School Committee and City Council finished or in the order of results for Council and Committee.
Newport School Committee
Following Tuesday night results, only 31 votes separated the seventh (David Hanos) and the eight (Robert Leary) for School Committee.
According to unofficial results on Tuesday, Gomes, Silvia, Gaines, Bolan, Flowers, Carlin and Hanos will represent the seven empty seats on Newport School Committee.
Following the count of 1,383 mail ballots across Newport, the results looked like this;

Newport City Council At- Large
Following Tuesday night results, only 116 votes in the City Council At-Large race separated John Florez (#4 vote getter) and Justin McLaughin (#5 vote getter).
According to unofficial results on Tuesday, Winthrop, Napolitano, Bova and Florez have been the four chosen to fill the four empty seats on City Council.

Following the count of mail ballots from Ward 1, the results looked like this;
