The town is accepting artwork for its seventh annual holiday card contest, with submissions due Wednesday, Nov. 25.

The contest is open to all Middletown residents, including school-age children, amateur artists and photography enthusiasts, according to the town. Drawings, paintings and photographs are all welcome, and work should be in full color.

This year’s theme is “Celebrating Middletown’s History.” The town is asking artists to share favorite Middletown scenery, activities or historical locations during the winter holiday season.

Artwork should be sized to fit a rectangular card in either portrait or landscape orientation, at least 5 by 7 inches and no larger than 5.5 by 8 inches. Digital and paper submissions are both accepted, though paper entries must be scannable.

The artist’s name should not appear on the front of the artwork. Digital entries should include the artist’s full name in the file name; paper entries should have the name and contact information on the back. Every submission should include the artist’s name, Middletown address, phone number and email, plus the age and grade of student entrants.

Entries can be emailed to Maureen Maurer at mmaurer@middletownri.gov, or mailed or dropped off at the Town Administrator’s Office, Middletown Town Hall, 350 East Main Road. Residents who want their work returned by mail should include a self-addressed stamped envelope.

The winning artwork will be printed on the card the town mails to several hundred employees, volunteers and officials, with the artist’s name on the back. The winner also receives a $50 gift card and a framed print of the card, presented by town officials.

For more information, call the Town Administrator’s Office at 401-849-2898.
