Newport Polo hosts the American Polo Classic at 4 p.m. Saturday at BD Field at Glen Farm, pairing professional players with amateurs across two teams for six chukkers.

Now in its 26th year, the Pro-Am is one of the more unpredictable matches on the calendar, matching international professionals with amateurs on the same sides. Gates opened at noon.

Barbados Tourism is on the sidelines with Bajan food in the TD Pavilion, and the halftime divot stomp — when spectators walk the field replacing turf torn up in the opening chukkers — comes with a drawing for a five-day, four-night trip to Barbados for two.

The Stella Artois Best in Show sideline theme is Yacht Rock, with organizers encouraging resort whites, Breton stripes, captain’s blazers, aviators and Top-Siders. BMW of Newport, a longtime sponsor of the Pro-Am, will display a 2027 X7 and a 2025 M5 Touring alongside the field.

The afternoon closes with the champagne trophy presentation and player autographs.

Tickets and details are at nptpolo.com.
