Nick Kepley has joined the Preservation Society of Newport County as communications manager, leading marketing communications across the organization and serving as its primary media contact.
Kepley, a Providence resident, comes from Jacob’s Pillow, the dance festival in western Massachusetts, where he was director of marketing and communications. There he built a public relations strategy around the opening of the new Doris Duke Theatre and led a brand refresh across the organization’s communications and advertising.
Before that he was director of marketing at Explore Asheville, the destination marketing organization for Asheville, North Carolina, managing a roughly $12 million marketing budget.
“Preservation becomes vital through its dialogue with the present and its impact on the future,” Kepley said. “I look forward to connecting the world with the history, artistry and legacy of these extraordinary Newport Mansions.”
He has more than 15 years in nonprofit marketing and helped launch three arts organizations: MOTION Dance Theatre, where he was founding artistic director; Dance Lab New York; and Stewart/Owen Dance.
Kevin O’Leary, the Preservation Society’s director of marketing, said the organization has had a strong run of press over the past year and expects to build on it.
