MLK Community Center collecting adult clothing donations through Sunday (MLK Center)

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Center is collecting new and gently used adult clothing through Sunday, Aug. 30, for a giveaway open to Newport County residents the following day.

Donations are being taken at two Newport churches. Channing Memorial Church, 131 Pelham St., accepts drop-offs anytime. St. John’s the Evangelical Church, 61 Poplar St., takes donations in Guild Hall Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon and Sunday from 8:30 to 11 a.m.

Shoes will be accepted only if they are new and unused.

The giveaway runs Monday, Aug. 31, from noon to 4 p.m. at the MLK Community Center, 20 Dr. Marcus Wheatland Blvd.
