The Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra will perform a free outdoor concert on the back lawn of Rosecliff on Sunday, August 9, starting at 7 p.m., hosted by the Preservation Society of Newport County.
Conducted by Troy Quinn, the program includes the “William Tell” and “1812” overtures alongside music from Phantom of the Opera, West Side Story, Beauty and the Beast, Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, Wicked, and more. The lawn opens at 5 p.m. for picnicking; attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs, food, and drinks. The concert will be canceled in case of rain.
Admission is free, but advance registration is required at newportmansions.org/events/r-i-philharmonic-concert.
Parking will not be available at Rosecliff except for guests with a disability placard. Attendees are encouraged to arrive by bike or bus — bike racks will be available courtesy of Bike Newport, and RIPTA’s Route 67 bus is free and stops at Rosecliff. More information at ripta.com/routes/67.
