NEWPORT, R.I. — Jacob Fearnley saved six match points to complete one of the most dramatic comebacks in ATP Challenger final history Sunday, claiming the men’s singles title at the 2026 Cerity Partners Hall of Fame Open at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
Fearnley, representing Great Britain, defeated fourth-seeded Adam Walton of Australia 5–7, 7–6(8), 6–4 in two hours and 30 minutes on Center Court. According to tournament officials, it marked the most match points saved in an ATP Challenger final since 2022, when Wu Yibing saved six match points to win the Indianapolis title.
In the women’s singles final, Tatjana Maria of Germany claimed the Van Alen Cup with a 6–2, 6–4 victory over American Katie Volynets, avenging a loss in last year’s final. Maria did not concede more than six games in any of her four matches on the week.
The men’s doubles title went to Finn Reynolds and James Watt, who rallied to defeat Fernando Romboli and JP Smith 6–1, 6–7(2), 10–6 in a third-set match tiebreak. In women’s doubles, Iryna Shymanovich and Katie Volynets defeated Savannah Broadus and Kylie Collins to complete an American showdown for the title.
The tournament is held annually on the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame on Bellevue Avenue.
