Cardines Field will host the Newport Gulls’ 2026 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday, July 18, from 4 to 6 p.m., celebrating contributors who have made a lasting impact on Gulls history and the Newport community.
The 2026 class includes seven former players: catcher Troy Dixon (2016), outfielder Ben Roberts (2013-2014), pitcher Dan Mahoney (2008), infielder Mike Tamsin (2008), pitcher Adam Wilk (2007), pitcher Chase Reid (2008) and outfielder Yale Rosen (2012).
The team will also honor three figures for their service to Gulls baseball: longtime head trainer and physical therapist Norm Provost, who served from 2004 to 2018; Carmen Carcone, the Gulls’ first head coach, in 2001; and Richard Sardella, who served as Newport mayor from 2000 to 2005. The Gulls said the three are being recognized for helping preserve the rich history and tradition of the game in the City by the Sea.
Admission to the event is free. Tickets can be picked up at any home game prior to the Hall of Fame, with a limit of two per person. The ceremony is sponsored by Dockwa.
The Newport Gulls, members of the 13-team New England Collegiate Baseball League, are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Founded as the Rhode Island Gulls in Cranston in 1998, the team moved to Newport in 2001 and has won eight NECBL championships, the most in league history.
