The Newport Gulls will celebrate the next generation of baseball players during Little League Night at Cardines Field on Friday, June 12.
All Little Leaguers receive free admission, and the team is encouraging young players to bring their teammates and wear their jerseys to the ballpark. Gates open at 5 p.m., with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. The night is presented by A1 Roofing and Construction.
The event offers young players and their families a chance to take in Gulls baseball at historic Cardines Field, whether they dream of playing under the lights themselves one day or simply love the game. Fans who can’t make it to the ballpark can catch the action on ESPN+, with the pregame show beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The Newport Gulls are members of the 13-team New England Collegiate Baseball League and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Founded as the Rhode Island Gulls in Cranston in 1998, the team moved to Newport in 2001 and has since drawn roughly 50,000 fans annually to Cardines Field while contributing more than $1 million to the community through summer camps, reading programs, scholarships and charitable donations. The eight-time NECBL champions are the winningest franchise in league history and were ranked the No. 1 summer collegiate baseball team in the country by Perfect Game USA in 2012.
