The Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce will host its next Politics & Pancakes event Tuesday, June 23, at Ochre Court, featuring the two lawmakers who chair the General Assembly’s finance committees.
House Finance Chairman Rep. Marvin L. Abney and Senate Finance Chairman Sen. Louis P. DiPalma are slated to speak to the local business community about highlights of the state budget and issues expected to arise during the election cycle. The event runs from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and is the second quarterly installment of the series, held in partnership with the Pell Center at Salve Regina University and sponsored by Bally’s Corporation.
“As Rhode Island enters an important election year, the decisions made at the State House will continue to shape the economic climate for businesses, employers, and families across our region,” said Erin Donovan-Boyle, president and CEO of the chamber. She said the event reflects the chamber’s commitment to connecting the business community with policymakers on issues affecting Greater Newport and the state.
The Politics & Pancakes series brings government officials to the area for speaking programs and panel discussions, with past guests including the governor, members of the General Assembly and the congressional delegation. Tickets include admission and a full buffet breakfast, along with networking before and after the program.
Ochre Court is located on Ochre Point Avenue. Advance registration is required at NewportChamber.com/events; tickets are $50 for members and $60 for nonmembers. Questions and group reservations can be directed to kate@newportchamber.com.
