The Rhode Island Commerce Corporation will open a satellite office at Innovate Newport, expanding access to its business services across Aquidneck Island and the Greater Newport region.
A press conference and ribbon cutting to officially launch the new office are scheduled for 10 a.m. Monday, May 11, at the front entrance of Innovate Newport, 513 Broadway. The public is invited to attend, and a celebration with refreshments will follow.
Mayor Charles Holder, Rhode Island Commerce Corporation President and CEO Jim Bennett, and Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Erin Donovan-Boyle are scheduled to deliver remarks.
“Rhode Island Commerce is excited to open an office at Innovate Newport,” Bennett said in a statement. “Commerce supports the needs of businesses throughout our state, helping them to grow and thrive here. Our presence on Aquidneck Island will help us serve businesses in the area. I could not think of a better location than at Innovate Newport, and we’re grateful for our partnership with the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce.”
Donovan-Boyle said the new office strengthens an already deep partnership between the organizations and signals a broader commitment to the region’s business community.
“We are excited to welcome Rhode Island Commerce Corporation’s new satellite office to Innovate Newport and to Aquidneck Island,” Donovan-Boyle said. “Innovate Newport has become a central hub for technical assistance, entrepreneurship, and business support services in our region, making it the ideal location for RI Commerce to expand its presence. Having RI Commerce establish a dedicated local office here demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting the businesses, entrepreneurs, and innovators that drive our regional economy. This new office will make critical resources and services more accessible to our business community and further strengthen the partnerships that help Newport County thrive.”
Innovate Newport, supported by the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce and the city of Newport, offers coworking and private office space, business events and programming intended to support entrepreneurs and innovators across the region.
