The Jane Pickens Theater & Event Center will kick off summer with its annual “Jaws” party on Friday, May 29, before bringing Steven Spielberg’s 1975 blockbuster back to the big screen for three more screenings in July.

The series features a newly restored 4K print of the film, live music from local bands and beer tastings, the theater announced. It is presented in partnership with What’sUpNewp and sponsored by Narragansett Beer. On May 29 only, Save The Bay will have a touch tank of local sea life in the lobby.

The May 29 kickoff begins with doors at 6 p.m., live music from The Teledynes at 6:30 p.m. and the film at 7:30 p.m. The July schedule includes party screenings on Friday, July 17, again with The Teledynes, and Saturday, July 18, with the maritime music group Sharks Come Cruisin’, both with doors at 6 p.m. and the film at 7:30 p.m. A film-only screening is set for Sunday, July 19, with doors at 3:30 p.m. and the film at 4:30 p.m.

The annual party has become one of the theater’s most popular events. The theater recommends buying tickets in advance, noting that previous “Jaws” events have sold out. Last summer, the theater sold out screenings before bringing the film back over Labor Day weekend for a run tied to the film’s 50th anniversary.

Tickets for the party screenings are $20 for general admission and $18 for JPT members. The film-only screening is $15 for general admission and $13 for members.

“Jaws” follows police Chief Martin Brody, played by Roy Scheider, as he tries to close the beaches of the fictional resort town of Amity Island after a fatal shark attack, only to be resisted by a mayor worried about the town’s economy. Brody is joined by an ichthyologist, played by Richard Dreyfuss, and a veteran captain, played by Robert Shaw, in the hunt for the great white.
