Discover Newport on Thursday announced a new sponsorship program that will provide up to $200,000 annually to organizations working on projects that drive overnight visitation and strengthen the tourism economy across Newport and Bristol counties.
Sponsorship awards will range up to $15,000, with most falling between $1,000 and $10,000, according to the destination management organization. Eligible project categories include special events, public art, beautification and wayfinding, each tied to Discover Newport’s mission of promoting year-round travel and increasing overnight stays.
“This program is a strategic investment in the destination,” said Victoria Cimino, president and CEO of Discover Newport. “We’re focused on supporting initiatives that drive overnight stays, strengthen the visitor experience, and deliver meaningful economic impact for our communities — particularly in the shoulder and off-season.”
The program will operate on a quarterly application cycle beginning in fiscal year 2027, which runs July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027. Discover Newport said the rolling structure is intended to create ongoing opportunities and align funding with seasonal priorities.
Applications will be evaluated based on tourism impact, marketing strength, seasonal alignment and overall benefit to the region. The first application window opens May 1, with award notifications expected in mid-June.
Discover Newport is the official destination management organization for the city of Newport and the surrounding coastal townships in Newport and Bristol counties. Its coverage area includes Barrington, Bristol, Jamestown, Little Compton, Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, Tiverton and Warren.
