Boys Town New England has launched its annual Buy a Bird campaign, inviting community members to help provide Thanksgiving meals for local families in need.

From Nov. 1-15, donations will support the creation of holiday baskets for families served through Boys Town’s In-Home Family Services and Care Coordination programs.

Each Thanksgiving basket costs approximately $150 to assemble and feeds a family of four to six. The baskets include a turkey, fresh vegetables, fruit, stuffing ingredients, pie crust and fillings, herbs, spices and gravy.

“We have the privilege of walking alongside families in our community every day,” said Marcy Shyllon, interim executive director of Boys Town New England. “The Buy a Bird campaign is one way we can come together as neighbors to make sure every family feels seen, supported and cared for this Thanksgiving.”

The campaign aims to raise enough to provide Thanksgiving meals for every family served by Boys Town New England’s programs. Donations will go directly toward purchasing food items for baskets tailored to reflect each family’s cultural traditions and dietary needs.

Community members can donate at boystown.org/new-england.

Boys Town has served children and families for over a century through education, prevention, training and treatment programs. In 2024, more than 3.5 million children and families across the United States were impacted by Boys Town programs.
