The Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County will welcome Harry Philbrick, the new executive director of the Newport Art Museum, at its monthly networking event Nov. 19.

Arts Around the Fire will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sardella’s Restaurant, 30 Memorial Blvd. West. The free event is open to the public and no reservations are needed.

Philbrick, a native Rhode Islander, brings three decades of leadership experience from distinguished arts institutions including The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Museum and Philadelphia Contemporary, which he founded. His career has spanned galleries and museums from London to Philadelphia. He began his position at the Newport Art Museum in July.

Arts Around the Fire provides an opportunity for artists, writers, performers and audiences to engage with colleagues about events affecting the cultural community and to learn about new ideas and artistic endeavors.
