Pivotal Brewing Company announced Tuesday on Instagram that it is looking to transition its Newport location to new ownership, just five months after fully opening.

In a candid Instagram post, the Bristol-based brewery explained its decision to step back from the Newport operation, saying the space doesn’t align with the company’s long-term business strategy.

“We came here to grow our beverage business—not to run a restaurant or event venue—and this spot just isn’t built for that vision,” the company stated. “And when we’re not on the right track, we pivot, because when you know, you know.”

The brewery emphasized this is a strategic business decision rather than a closure, and that the Newport location will continue operating while they seek the right successor. Pivotal is marketing the opportunity as turnkey and ready for an operator whose vision aligns better with the venue’s capabilities.

The 4,500-square-foot space offers a flexible layout with built-in event areas, a fully equipped kitchen, an outdoor beer garden with a tiki bar, and comes with a full Newport liquor license available for sale—features that could appeal to restaurateurs or event-focused hospitality operators.

“This space is turnkey and ready for someone to make their own,” the company wrote, adding that interested parties should reach out directly to info@pivotalbrewing.com.

Pivotal made clear that its Bristol headquarters remains unaffected by the decision. “Don’t fret—nothing changes at our main Bristol location. That’s still home base and business as usual, with the continued focus on innovating and perfecting our craft.”

The company also clarified that it is not selling any part of the Pivotal Brewing brand, only the building lease and liquor license for the Newport location.

The distinctive blue-fronted building with its signature purple doors represents a significant opportunity for entrepreneurs looking to enter Newport’s competitive food and beverage market with an established, fully operational venue.
